Safety Glasses and disposable gloves are available but students may want to purchase their own goggles or bring their own gloves for handling chemicals.

 

Students must purchase lab coats and lab coats must be worn at all time when "wet" experiments are being performed in the lab.

ACS California Placement Exam with Math from ACS Toledo:

During the first week all students may take the ACS California Placement test during the first scheduled lab class (Tuesday May 20th ).  It is a pre-assessment of chemistry skills and may be post course tested the week of finals week. The test includes 44 multiple choice questions and an additional 20 questions from the Toledo Placement test on math. The 60 question Toledo Placement may be used instead. Students should be able to score 70% on the Mathematics Section II. If lower than 70%, the student should examine their math ability for this course. The math section counts 20 points the first week, and the California or Toledo for 40 points

FN Grade - Failure for Non-Attendance

A Failure for Non-Attendance (FN) grade indicates that a student has failed a course due to non-attendance. It is calculated as an “F” in the student’s grade point average. For students receiving financial aid, failure for non-attendance may require the student to refund to the College all or part of his or her aid. The FN grade will be assigned by the faculty member at any time following the final withdrawal date for the course. Late / Make Up Work

There is no make-up for missing a scheduled wet lab. Each Lab is worth 20-30 points. All students are allowed one lab absence, but students attending all will earn up to 20 extra points at the end of the course.

There are weekly exams. Students absent will be assigned a zero grade. However if a student does a make-up  exam before the papers are returned the next week,  the makeup will be graded and the zero changed to the grade earned. Makeup exams will no be allowed or administered more than one week past the schedule exam.

. Likewise Paper and Pencil homework Packets must be submitted prior to the weekly exam or receive a zero. Student not submitting the homework packet before the schedule exam will receive only 1/2 credit if submitted late the following class period. After the following class period no homework may receive a grade and the zero grade stands.

Online multiple Choice Homework exercises have scheduled deadlines, After the deadline the MC homework may not be completed and zero scores will be entered

Online Multiple Choice exams also have schedule deadlines and may not be completed after the deadline
